The objective of this survey is to estimate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Brazilian economy, having as survey units non-financial enterprises representing the activities of Industry, Construction, Trade and Services.
Data collection for the Enterprise Pulse Survey – Impact of Covid-19 on Enterprises (PPEmp), conducted every fifteen days, started on June 15, 2020, by means of Computer Assisted Telephone Interview - CATI, all over the National Territory.
In order to investigate the incidence and the intensity of the pandemic impacts on business performance, the questionnaire, structured upon two blocks, approaches the operating status of the enterprise and its business environment. With reference to the latter, the investigated issues refer to the behavior of demand for products and services; the access to input or raw material; the capacity of the company to make routine payments; number of employed persons; and the main measures of reaction adopted by enterprises and the existence of governmental support to business initiatives. This set of information expands the capacity of understanding how non-financial enterprises have performed their activities in the midst of a social isolation period. It is worth highlighting that the PPEmp is an enterprise with a dynamic data collection instrument; therefore, the questionnaire is subject to changes throughout its period of application.
The survey is released every fifteen days. It has national coverage, with results available for Brazil and its Major Regions, by economic activity (Industry, Construction, Trade and Services), by ranges of size of enterprises: up to 49 employed persons; from 50 to 499 employed persons; and with 500 or more employed persons,
This exceptional statistical operation will be carried out as long as it is considered relevant.
